Yahweh gives more commandments to His people that go beyond what is clearly stated in previous commands which removes all excuses for disobeying Him and refusing to love one’s neighbor. God establishes the Covenant Code that He must be believed and obeyed in order to see the covenant promises that God made come to pass.
